What should be done
before departure?

A

Getting your pet accustomed to the crate is very important.

Some dogs have panicked when suddenly placed in the crate on the day of departure. If possible, purchase the crate well in advance and help your pet get used to it by taking short car rides or letting them practice entering and staying inside the crate at home. Above all, teach them that the crate is a safe place.

Also, practice drinking water from a water bottle attached to the crate. Pets won’t know how to drink from it if it’s only introduced on departure day. Try attaching food, letting them touch it, or playing around it to teach them gradually over time.
On departure day, placing a towel or clothing with your scent inside the crate can help your pet feel more secure. Since these items will be discarded eventually, please include things you don’t mind losing.

Some owners ask if they can give sedatives to their pets, but this is not allowed. If your pet appears lethargic inside the crate, airlines may refuse to transport them due to health concerns. Please try to keep your pet as natural and comfortable as possible during the flight.
